A short history of filmfare awards:
The first Filmfare Award ceremony was held on March 21, 1954 at Metro Theatre in Mumbai. Filmfare awards was earlier supposed to be called, ‘The Clares Awards’ after the Times of India film critic – Clare Mendonca and the no. of awards presented were five(5) in 1954 under the categories – Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actor (Female), and Best Music Director. Later the no. increased and so the name and fame of Filmfare.
The ‘Black Lady’ has witnessed many ups and down of Bollywood history and the glow continued for 60th successful year. The trophies, now known as ‘The Black Lady’ are made of bronze and hence are quite heavy and changes have been made to the trophy to give it a 3-D look and feel. The Filmfare Award fear is always high as “who will get what?” FIlmfare Award is Second to None. The fimfare award always brings Bollywood biggies together under one roof, recognizing the best talent. The’ black Lady’ is all time favourite of all divas. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the country.
